What is BIT?
The Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) is an external degree offered by the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. It was introduced to address the growing demand for ICT professionals in the country. The program aims to produce industry-ready graduates through a comprehensive and cost-effective education.

The candidates applying must satisfy one of the following entry requirements .
1.) Applicants passing GCE Advanced Level (National Curriculum)
Credit (C) pass or above for G.C.E. O/L Mathematics (National Curriculum) Syllabus). If you have completed the O/L examination under the old curriculum, you must have at least a ‘C’ pass in one of the Mathematics subjects.
AND
GCE Advanced Level (National Curriculum): At least three (03) simple passes (S) for main subjects in the GCE Advanced Level examination in one sitting after the year 2000 or four passes in the GCE Advanced Level examination in one sitting before the year 2000
2.) Applicants with NVQ qualifications
NVQ qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 4 or Level 5 one-year full-time, which is awarded from
Training institutes or programs accredited by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), or
Government Technical Colleges.
A Credit (C) pass or above for O/L Mathematics (National Curriculum), and passing six (06) subjects in one sitting.
3.) Applicants who have completed
O/L and A/L under an international syllabus with results equivalent to 1 above or
O/L under National Curriculum and A/L under an International Curriculum or
O/L under an international syllabus and A/L under National Curriculum
Applicants under 2 and 3 above are required to pass an aptitude test to be eligible to register.
Lateral Entry
1) Lateral Entry – HNDIT (Full Time) from SLIATE
A candidate who has successfully completed all subjects of SLIATE HNDIT (2021 revised new Curriculum or 2014 curriculum) and the six months (06) training period can apply to be considered as a lateral entry candidate.
2) Lateral Entry – HNDIT (Part Time) from SLIATE
A candidate who has successfully completed all subjects of SLIATE HNDIT (2021 revised new Curriculum or 2014 curriculum) and the one year (12 months) training period can apply to be considered as a lateral entry candidate.
3) Lateral Entry – Holder of National Diploma in Technology (NDT) in IT – Institute of Technology University of Moratuwa (ITUM)
A candidate who has successfully completed all modules of the NDT in IT curriculum, except for Industrial Training I and II, are eligible to apply and register for the BIT degree programme. However, to qualify for the award of the degree, candidates must successfully complete Industrial Training I and II and obtain the National Diploma in Technology.
4) Diploma/ Higher Diploma in IT -University of Moratuwa
Candidates who have successfully completed Level 01, or both Level 01 and Level 02, under the BIT 2018 curriculum of the University of Moratuwa are eligible to register as lateral entry candidates.
Students who followed the program prior to the 2018 revised curriculum are not eligible for exemptions and are required to commence from Level 01.
Applicants under 1,2 and 3 above are required to pass an aptitude test to be eligible to register.

The above fees are payable direct to the University of Moratuwa, at any branch of the Bank of Ceylon to the credit of Bank of Ceylon A/C No 70993353 of the University of Moratuwa by using the paying-in-voucher available at the bank and a receipt obtained. Please ensure that “Bachelor of Information Technology” is stated as the Programme name. A copy of the receipt should be sent to the university along with other documents.
The registration and course fee of the (BIT) external degree is Rs. 120,000 for third (03) year. Payments could be made either in full at the beginning of each academic year (Table 3) or in installments at the beginning of each academic semester (Table 4).
Payment for the rest of the subjects in L2 and L1 will be decided based on the no of credits per the module as listed below.

* Added: In addition to this payment you must make a payment of Rs 1500/= for every module for Continuous Assessment component. At the beginning of the Semester you must pay the appropriate amount based on the subjects you have selected from Semesters 1 to 4.

University Fees for Lateral Entry Students (NDT IT- ITUM)
The registration and course fee of the (BIT) external degree is Rs. 150,000 for third (03) year. Payments could be made either in full at the beginning of each academic year (Table 5) or in installments at the beginning of each academic semester (Table 6).
Payment for the rest of the subjects in L2 and L1 will be decided based on the number of credits per the module as listed below.

The below mentioned documents should be submitted to the document verification date given by the CODL
- National Identity card or passport
- Original Birth Certificate
- Original G.C.E O/L certificate
- Original G.C.E A/L certificate
- Certificates of any other acceptable qualification in place of A/L
- Documentary evidence to prove the tertiary education
- Original bank slip- Rs 1000.00 (Application fee)
Note : Applicant should bring the originals and one copy of each document.

- Candidates apply with NDT IT qualification should submit mark sheets for semester 1 to semester 4
Note : Applicant should bring the originals and one copy of each document.
The Examinations for course modules conducted during a semester shall be held at the end of the Semester. Each module has two components which consist of Final exam (FE) and Continuous Assessment (CA). Percentages of FE and CA components are unique to each module. Candidates required to pass the CA (continuous Assessment) in order to face the final exams.

- If you are a previously registerered student at BIT(CODL), mention your previous BIT registration number.
